Most natural and organic shoppers are aware that there are toxic synthetic chemicals in conventional products. That's why we pay the extra money and often go out of our way to shop at natural food stores. But, what if you can't trust that the "greener" products are truly safer and healthier?
It's really difficult for consumers to know which products are safer and healthier and which are masquerading as green products. The whole reason that I started researching organic and natural products over 15 years ago was because I was so annoyed that many of the "natural" and "organic" brands sold in health food stores contained a lot of the same toxic synthetic chemicals as the supermarket brands. I was pregnant back then and was looking for products that really were what they said they were. Not an easy thing to determine. You won't have to spend all of the time and money researching and using products yourself. I love finding new products to add to the site that meet my strict criteria. What's the difference between "natural" and "organic"?
A recent study commissioned by the Organic Consumer's Association, overseen by David Steinman (author of the Safe Shopper's Bible) found that 47 out of 100 "organic" and "natural" products (personal care and cleaning products) tested contained the undisclosed carcinogenic contaminant, 1,4-dioxane. This is a macro-nutrient that will pump you up! Proteins are the building blocks from which most of the tissues that make up your body are made. The one most associated with protein is muscle tissue. GOOD CARBS
The best choices for stress fighting foods are whole fruits and vegetables. The problem with fat is that we tend to consume too much and the wrong type in the typical American diet. The reason for this is fatty food tastes good. My heart so went out to Joanna Rochette. During this years Olympics after Joanna's mother had passed away unexpectedly, she found that place that was safe and away from the stress and distractions that circumstances had dealt her. Her mother taught her to be strong, have a goal and want it bad enough that she would stay on track. I understood the place she was at. On the ice was the place that we was closest to her mom and their joint goals, good for her! The only way to be at that place is practice. Lot's of it!!!!
